After catching the lake wake

After Catching the Lake Wake is an original Lake Orta painting on paper and the first work in this series, created during my artist residency in Orta San Giulio, Italy. After surfing on the lake, I returned to the landscape with its movement and energy still very present.

Green, pink, blue and soft lilac move loosely across the paper. Compared with the later works in the series, this painting is less layered and more immediate, allowing individual marks and open areas to remain visible.

The work holds the beginning of the series: water, movement, colour and the landscape around Lake Orta coming together almost instinctively. This Lake Orta painting on paper captures not a precise view, but the feeling left after being out on the water.
