Who started the fire?

At some point, nobody knows.

That sentence stayed with me after looking at Firestarter, a painting from my Dreamland series. There is a dark figure moving through a layered landscape. A soft sky above. Darker ground below. Somewhere in the painting, a small house-like form seems to glow.

But the work does not give a clear answer.

Is the figure leaving something behind, or walking towards it? Is the fire danger, energy, memory, anger, or the start of something new?

I like that uncertainty. In painting, I am not looking for one fixed explanation. I am more interested in the moment where things start to shift. Where a landscape becomes psychological. Where a figure becomes more than a figure. Where a small light can feel both hopeful and uneasy.

Firestarter belongs to that place.

A fictional landscape, but not an empty one.
