A contemporary artist studio in the Dutch flower region, where paintings develop in relation to landscape, movement and material.

Our studio and surrounding.
There is a place where my work gathers at this moment.
And where we feel at home, our house and studio in the flower region.
Not as an endpoint, but as a place where images come together, shift and begin again. And where they find their way to a collector and a viewer.
In the Dutch flower region, ( Keukenhof as backyard) between the fields and the wind, I work in a space where paintings are not only made, but also experienced.

The place
The surroundings are in constant motion.
Seasons move over one another, colors appear and disappear, light shifts by the hour. The bulb fields follow different cultivation cycles, and even the greenhouse changes throughout the year.
We walk and move through this landscape every day, with our animals, boots on, heading outside.
Across the fields, over our own piece of land.

That movement directly touches my work.
What happens outside continues onto the canvas, not literally, but in rhythm, in tension, in shifting layers.
Like the westerly wind from the sea I grew up with. Its energy has always held my attention. It is something I carry from my father. And to me, it belongs to this region. And now, to this studio.

Working in this space
I do not work towards a fixed image. What emerges does so in relation to what is already there, on the canvas, in the material, in the space itself.

Paintings stand next to each other, influencing one another, pushing and pulling. Sometimes there is stillness.
Sometimes there is friction. And that suits me well. Within that tension, the work takes shape.
I am never alone at this place. Our studio dogs and cats are with me, even at a studio photoshoot.

Encounter
This place is also a space for encounter.
Not as a gallery, but as a direct environment of the work.
Where one can look quietly, and where work is visible in different stages.
A place where material and process come close.

I work here, layer upon layer.
With everything that moves, and everything that remains.
In the rhythm of the place, and in the presence of people and life around me.
