First, gathering work for an atelierview and photo shoot was my task. The artworks were carefully packed and placed in the boat. However, the question arose: should the dog be included or not? Our dogs always want to join in! Meanwhile, the photographer dives into her gear in the small “back-and-forth boat” we use daily to go to our atelier shed. As a result, we duck halfway under the large boat sail because we keep thinking we feel more and more splashes.
Upon arrival at the shed, I feed the chickens. Additionally, the dogs need to stay calm, as they think the photographer is way too interesting. Consequently, we end up taking a family photo of our dog with my son. My dear eldest son is a big help during this photoshoot. Finally, the boat is full of various art series, and it will be quite a task to get everything on camera.

Unloading everything from the boat, setting it down, shifting, stacking, and arranging. But is there enough light or not? Almost immediately, new ideas pop up. For example, can we also host guests here for an atelierview, or even have our own exhibition? I can already imagine my husband happily welcoming guests with warm grilled snacks. After all, the BBQ is always ready. Moreover, new ideas keep coming. Soon, gallery owners will visit to view my work. This event, also called an art review or atelierview, works perfectly in this setting. So, bring it on! Wine, BBQ, and art. As a team, I think it’s fantastic!
Atelierview
An atelierview is a special and informal event where an artist invites people into their studio or creative space to experience their work up close. Unlike a traditional gallery exhibition, an atelierview allows visitors to see where and how the art is made, surrounded by the tools, sketches, and inspiration that fuel the creative process. It’s a chance to explore the story behind each piece, ask questions, and connect with the artist in a personal setting. These events often have a relaxed atmosphere, sometimes with music, refreshments, or even a little BBQ if the space allows. It’s more than just viewing art—it’s about sharing the passion, hearing the stories, and experiencing the art in the very space where it comes to life.
