Into the woods – again emerged from my walks through the woodlands of the Dutch Bollenstreek, just behind Keukenhof, in a wilder area where nature is less orderly.

I didn’t paint a literal view, but my experience of this place. Light, wind and movement constantly change the landscape. Recognisable shapes partially dissolve into colour, lines and brushstrokes. Among the dark greens, the pale flowers of wild daffodils sway, while red and yellow accents bring warmth and depth to the woodland path.

The painting reveals another side of the Bollenstreek. Beyond the neatly arranged flower fields and greenhouses, there is also a secluded, overgrown landscape that cannot be fully captured.
